This episode is all about getting ready for EYF 2018! I am very happy to have my festival sweater ready and will show you some insights on how I knit the sleeves separately in a top-down sweater. Also there is a little tutorial video to demonstrate how I make my lanolin hand balm!

Finished Projects

Ribbed Hat for my Brother

Lettlopi Arboreal

  • Pattern: Arboreal by Jennifer Steingass
  • Yarn: Ístex Léttlopi, colorways 9427 Rust Heather and 0086 Light Beige Heather purchased from islandwolle.ch
  • Needles: 4.0 mm (US 6) for the main body (and colorwork). 3.5 mm (US 4) for the garter stitch collar and the ribbing at the bottom hem and cuffs.
  • My first colorwork yoke, my first Léttlopi – And I just love everything about this project! I did end up with a larger gauge than the pattern calls for, so I knit the smallest size and I am very happy with the fit!
  • More infos about my modifications can be found on my ravelry project page.
  • Custom made leather tags with my own logo were ordered from the LeatherGoodsCompany etsy shop (from Bulgaria).

Knitting in Progress

Radioactive Socks

  • Pattern: Basic stockinette socks knit toe up, two at a time, magic loop – following the etcetera sock pattern by Verena Cohrs for the construction of the heel.
  • Yarn: dunkelgrün classic sock – speckle dyeing experiment. The neon green dye is “chartreuse” by Jacquard Acid Dyes.
  • Needles: started with Chiaogoo Lace 2.5 mm (1 ½ US) circular needle doing magic loop and two at a time, but now changed to knitting the socks separately on DPNs (KnitPro Naturals 2.5 mm / 1 ½ US).

Toph hat

  • Pattern: Toph by Wooly Wormhead – part of the Elemental collection, inspired by the wonderful series “Avatar – the last Airbender”.
  • Yarn: dunkelgrün organic merino dk – specially dyed for this project.
  • Needles: 3.0 mm (US 2½) Pony interchangeable circular needles.
  • The pattern uses a very smart way of charting out short rows – which I absolutely LOVE!!

What should I cast on for EYF 2018?

  • a pair of self-striping socks (using Opal sock yarn)?
  • or a top down improvised shawl (using my own handspun)?
